A bright studio for reformer Pilates
Wooden reformers and tower frames in a light, uncluttered room. Below: how the space is set up and what each part of the reformer does.
How the space is set up
The layout is kept simple, so the equipment is easy to see and to use.
-
Space around each reformer
Machines are set out with room to step on and off and to change springs.
-
A calm, uncluttered room
Neutral colours, natural wood and very little on the walls.
-
Setup explained in class
Springs, footbar and straps are explained as you go.
Parts of the reformer
It looks technical at first. In practice, it’s a few simple parts that support and guide each movement.
- Carriage
- The padded platform that slides along the frame as you push and pull.
- Springs
- Attached beneath the carriage. Changing them makes a movement feel lighter, heavier or more supported.
- Footbar
- A padded bar at one end that you press through with your feet or hands.
- Straps
- Loops for your hands or feet, connected by ropes to the frame.
- Tower
- An upright frame on some reformers that adds bars and springs for even more exercises.
